How to get an SA boat licence
In order to obtain the SA boat operators licence (boat & PWC licence), you must successfully complete the licence exam. This is a theory-based multiple choice exam, and is completed after roughly 2.5 hours of education from our experienced trainers.
Unlike the restricted licence (for kids ages 12 up to 16), there is no practical training/exam required to obtain the SA boat operators licence. All the licence requirements, other than the submission of the paperwork to Service SA, is completed in our fun and educational 3 hour course.
Get the licence in 3 steps:
1. Book in a course
We offer weekly courses in and around Adelaide. Bookings are made with our friendly team via phone on 0478 534 623.
Payment is required upon booking; cash on the day is not accepted.
2. Attend course; pass exam
Our experienced trainers will cover all the boating safety education required to pass the exam. This will take about 3 hours.
For those wanting to extend their learning, we have some digital boating safety materials available for study/future reference. You are given access to this material upon booking.
3. Take certificate to Service SA
Upon successful completion of the boating licence course, simply take our certificate into a Service SA registry within 6 months of the course. You won’t need to do any further testing and you’ll receive your licence same-day.
A small fee of roughly $40 applies at Service SA to process the paperwork and print the licence. After this, there are no further costs relating to the licence as it is a lifetime licence (no renewal fees!).
